Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice save file location
Windows save reference
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Windows saves are referenced as S0000.sl2 under %APPDATA%\Sekiro, inside an account folder. Open Sekiro first, identify the correct account and keep a separate copy before restoring anything.
Save location
%APPDATA%\Sekiro\〈Account ID〉\S0000.sl2

Copy the folder path and paste it into Win + R. Windows resolves %…% to your own folders; select the account or save inside.
Manual backup: Save and exit the game, let current launcher sync finish, then copy the listed files and required folders to a separate location. Keep the original intact.
Can’t find the location?
Check the store edition, Windows user and active account. Documents may be redirected to OneDrive or another disk. If you have never saved, save normally in the game first. A matching path does not prove the files will load in another version.

How to back up these files on Windows →
Missing or overwritten progress?
Keep the files you still have. Check the account, game edition and retained backups before restoring. If no copy of the earlier progress remains, a backup tool cannot recreate it.
Keep S0000.sl2 with the correct account folder and preserve current data before replacement. Check the intended character and progress after loading; the filename alone cannot identify the milestone.
Restore a retained copy, then check the game
- Close the game and retain the current files separately, even if they look empty or incorrect. Match the account, store edition and complete save scope shown above.
- Use a retained backup from the desired session. Follow the game’s documented procedure or the linked restore guide; keep the backup unchanged while applying a copy.
- Load the intended slot and verify a recognizable milestone. Exit and reopen to check that it persists, then resolve any launcher sync prompt using the preserved candidates.
